NIS has a 24 hours security system with a team of 10 security guards. We have
closed-circuit cameras with recorded surveillance. Only cars with NIS stickers are permitted to enter our campus. Our entrance has a steel boom gate. Security personnel check each car with undercar mirrors before admittance to the campus. All necessary care and precaution is taken to ensure our school provides a safe and secure place for NIS families.
NIS is a closed public facility with access permitted only to NIS families and staff. Visitors who wish to enter the campus are required to first ask permission from the Front Office. Visitors are obligated to wear their visitor's passes visibly after registering at the Security Office with a valid identity card.
As a school we are responsible for the safety of all attendees of NIS during school hours; 7.15am until 2.15pm. During these hours NIS has a strict access control that aims to block unwanted visitors and minimize the threat of danger to our students and staff. NIS has a 24 hour watch system with a team of security guards. The entrance has a steel boom gate and our security checks each car with undercar mirrors before admittance to the campus. All necessary care and precautions are taken to ensure NIS provides a safe and secure environment. During after school activities parents are responsible for the safety of their own children; we therefore ask parents to sign a waiver of liability when applying for after school (MANIS) activities.
Access control is the key to school security, according to acceptable guidelines for international schools. Access control at NIS is part of an integrated security system, which further includes emergency response, communication within school grounds and to parents.
Family access to NIS can be gained in three ways:
Car access: a ‘Car Access Pass’ will give access to an approved car and all passengers inside. Car owners are responsibility and liable for all passengers inside the vehicle while on the NIS premises.
Pedestrian access: a ‘Pedestrian Access Pass’ will give access to pedestrians, cyclist and /or anyone who is registered as a NIS student’s family member. Pedestrians can take visitors on their pass unless stated otherwise.
Visitor's access: Occasional visitors need to hand in their ID in exchange for a visitor’s pass. Visitor passes have an expiry time to ensure they cannot be used again. Visitors need to park their car in the parking bays outside NIS.
